Why Volunteering and Giving Back is Important to our Company
At Made in the Shade Blinds & More, we have been blessed by the communities that we serve. We truly have the best clients and we are grateful. We have many memorable experiences! Here are some of our personal favorites:
We believe that volunteering and giving back to the community is one of the most rewarding things we can do to make a difference and to have a positive effect on people. In giving to others, we have been rewarded by the people we meet and the memorable experiences we have had along the way.
Room Makeover Contest
We had a contest where the community nominated deserving citizens who have endured hardships for a “room makeover.” The letters we received were moving and it was sad to know so many had endured such burdens and hardships. We chose a single mother who suffered from a difficult disease. Her friends shared her heartbreaking story and her strength to keep going and make a difference in her son’s life and the community. Even though she had her own battles she still gave so much to others.
We originally said it was a “room” makeover contest and we turned it into a home makeover. Our team had so much fun doing it and the reveal was so rewarding.
Earth Day Cleanup
Our team organized Earth Day Cleanup which was another highlight of our volunteering and giving back to the community. The town was divided into areas and the volunteers picked up garbage around town and on the ditch banks along the highways. Our team was thrilled with the amount of people that came forward to pick up garbage around the community.
Diamond Dinner event
Another wonderful experience we were involved in was the Ladies Diamond Dinner Event. The result-the event raised over 10,000 for the hospital to purchase equipment!
Donating blinds to the Salvation Army for those less fortunate is something we try to do every couple months. Our team is glad to help with Salvation Army food bank drives.
It is wonderful to be able to do what we love for all clients. Being welcomed into our clients homes and lives is such an honour. Giving back to the community gives us so much reward. We have met so many great people along the way.
