Going Green in 2027: Three Paint Giants, One Beautiful Trend

Easy Ways to Refresh Your Home with the 2027 Colours of the Year

Every year, I look forward to seeing which colours the major paint companies select as their Colours of the Year. These choices give us a glimpse into where home design is headed and inspire fresh ideas for our own spaces.

And for 2027, something interesting has happened!

Behr, Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams have all chosen green.

Three different shades, three different personalities, but one common theme: bringing nature, warmth and a sense of calm into our homes.

After years of whites, greys and minimalist interiors, we’re seeing a shift toward warmer, more organic spaces filled with personality and texture.

The best part? You don’t need a major renovation to embrace these trends. Sometimes a fresh coat of paint, a few new accessories or updated window coverings are all it takes to transform a room.

Let’s look at the three Colours of the Year for 2027 and some easy ways to incorporate them into your home.

Behr: Grounded T27-01

Behr 2027 Colour of the Year →

Earthy, warm and inspired by nature

Behr’s 2027 Colour of the Year, Grounded, is a beautiful mossy olive green with subtle brown undertones.

It’s a colour that feels comfortable, welcoming and connected to the outdoors. I particularly love how well it complements natural materials such as wood, stone, leather and woven textures.

Grounded has enough depth to make a statement but is also muted enough to work beautifully alongside neutral furnishings.

Easy Ways to Incorporate Grounded

  • Create a feature wall behind your bed or sofa.
  • Refresh a bathroom vanity or built-in shelving.
  • Add olive-green cushions, throws or pottery to a neutral living room.
  • Pair it with warm woods, creamy whites, black accents and natural greenery.

Window Covering Inspiration: Grounded would look beautiful with natural woven shades in flax, oatmeal or light wood tones. The organic texture complements the earthy green without competing with it.

For a softer, layered look, consider pairing woven shades with warm ivory or linen-look drapery panels.

Sherwin-Williams: Celery SW 6421

Sherwin-Williams Colour of the Year →

Fresh, soft and uplifting

Sherwin-Williams has taken a lighter approach with Celery, an airy herbal green with subtle yellow undertones.

Where Grounded feels rich and earthy, Celery feels fresh and restorative.

It’s a lovely choice for homeowners who want to introduce colour without making a dramatic change.

Celery works especially well in spaces where natural light plays an important role, creating a cheerful yet calming atmosphere.

Easy Ways to Incorporate Celery

  • Refresh a bathroom or powder room.
  • Introduce soft green into a kitchen through cabinetry or accessories.
  • Use it in a bedroom alongside warm white bedding and natural wood furniture.
  • Pair it with cream, light oak, warm neutrals and subtle brass accents.

Window Covering Inspiration: Keep things light and airy.

Warm white cellular shades, linen-look Roman shades or natural woven shades would complement Celery beautifully.

If you prefer a clean, contemporary look, a simple roller shade in a soft neutral allows the wall colour to take centre stage.

Benjamin Moore: Webster Green HC-130

Benjamin Moore Colour of the Year →

Classic, sophisticated and timeless

Benjamin Moore’s 2027 Colour of the Year, Webster Green, brings a richer and more traditional interpretation of green into the spotlight.

This beautiful green balances warmth and depth, creating a colour that feels both elegant and inviting.

What I love about Webster Green is its versatility. It works beautifully in traditional interiors but can look equally stunning in modern spaces when paired with clean lines, natural materials and contemporary furnishings.

It has a timeless quality that makes it feel less like a passing trend and more like a colour you could enjoy for years.

Easy Ways to Incorporate Webster Green

  • Paint a home office or reading nook for a sophisticated, cozy atmosphere.
  • Add colour to built-in shelving or a fireplace feature wall.
  • Refresh a front door for an inviting first impression.
  • Use it in a dining room with warm wood furniture, cream upholstery and brass accents.

If you’re not ready to paint, consider introducing deeper green through artwork, accent chairs, cushions or decorative accessories.

Window Covering Inspiration: Webster Green pairs beautifully with natural textures and warm neutrals.

Consider woven wood shades in a medium wood tone, soft ivory Roman shades or full-length linen-look drapery.

For a more dramatic look, textured drapery in a warm taupe or deeper neutral can add elegance without overwhelming the room.

What Do These Three Colours Tell Us About Design in 2027?

Although each paint company has selected a different shade, the overall message is clear.

We’re moving toward homes that feel warmer, more natural and more personal.

Green connects easily with the outdoors. It works with wood, stone, natural fibres and many of the neutral colours already found in our homes.

We’re also seeing more emphasis on texture, layering and mixing materials rather than creating perfectly matched spaces.

And that’s a trend I love. Ya’ll know how much I like to add texture to a space.

A home should feel comfortable and collected over time, not like everything was purchased from the same showroom.

Five Easy Ways to Refresh Your Home Without Renovating

You don’t need to repaint your entire home or replace all your furniture to bring a little of 2027’s colour trends into your space.

  1. Start with one feature wall. A bedroom, dining room or home office is a great place to experiment with a new colour without overwhelming the space.
  2. Bring in natural textures. Woven baskets, wood accents, textured rugs and linen fabrics help soften a room and create warmth.
  3. Change your accessories. Cushions, throws, artwork and decorative pieces are easy ways to introduce green without a long-term commitment.
  4. Add greenery. Real or realistic plants bring life into a room and complement all three of this year’s colour selections.
  5. Update your window coverings. This is one of the most overlooked ways to refresh a space. The right shade or drapery can introduce texture, warmth and softness while making the entire room feel more finished.

Don’t Forget the Windows!

One of the things I love most about today’s window coverings is how beautifully they complement the move toward natural, organic interiors.

Natural woven shades are a particular favourite of mine. The texture, subtle variations in the material and beautiful way they filter light can add so much character and dimension to a room.

And they don’t need to match your paint colour.

In fact, some of the most beautiful interiors come from layering complementary colours and textures rather than matching everything perfectly.

For example, an earthy green feature wall paired with a warm woven shade and soft cream drapery creates depth and interest without feeling busy.

Cellular shades, roller shades and Roman shades are also wonderful options depending on your style, privacy needs and light-control preferences.

Remember that natural light can dramatically change how a paint colour looks throughout the day. That’s why choosing window coverings and paint colours together can make such a difference in the finished space.

This is why we do in home consultations.  We can work with your lighting and colors within your space to take out the guess work of undertones or unwanted surprises.

A Fresh Look Doesn’t Have to Mean a Big Change

The Colours of the Year are meant to inspire us, not convince us that everything in our homes needs to change.

Whether you’re drawn to Behr’s earthy Grounded, Sherwin-Williams’ fresh Celery or Benjamin Moore’s classic Webster Green, the most important thing is choosing colours and materials that feel right for you and your home.

Sometimes one new paint colour, a little texture and the right window treatment are all it takes to make a familiar space feel completely new again.
